Butterflies N Effect (BNE) targets middle school-age minority youth, aiming to address their social and emotional needs while empowering them through education, mentorship, and community engagement. The organization focuses on providing comprehensive support to help these young individuals develop confidence, resilience, and the skills necessary to navigate life's challenges and achieve their full potential.

Our Sessions Include:

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Lessons:

  • Taught by experienced educators and certified school counselors, these lessons focus on developing emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills. Participants learn to manage their emotions, set goals, and build healthy relationships.


Journal Writing:

  • Encourages self-expression and reflection. Youth are guided through structured journaling exercises to help them articulate their thoughts, feelings, and experiences, fostering personal growth and self-discovery.


Butterfly Circle Talks:

  • Participant-led support groups where individuals share experiences and offer mutual support. These discussions promote community and belonging, empowering participants to learn from each other and build confidence.


Family Outings:

  • Organized events that allow parents to engage positively with their children. These outings strengthen family bonds and provide opportunities for parents to support their child's development in a fun and interactive setting.


Mentorship Programs:

  • Connects participants with mentors who offer guidance, support, and positive role modeling. Mentors help youth explore various career paths, develop life skills, and set personal and academic goals.


Parent Workshops:

  • Workshops focused on educating parents about important topics such as self-care, recognizing ADHD/ADD, supporting children’s reading development, financial budgeting, and nutrition equip parents with the knowledge and tools to better support their children.


Community Engagement Events:

  • Activities that involve participants in community service and outreach. These events foster a sense of civic responsibility and encourage youth to give back to their communities, building a strong community connection.


Graduation Ceremonies:

  • Celebrations to honor participants' achievements and progress. These ceremonies recognize the completion of program levels and milestones, boosting participants' confidence and motivation to continue their personal growth journey.


By offering these diverse and comprehensive sessions, Butterflies N Effect aims to create a supportive and nurturing environment where middle school-age minority youth can thrive and reach their full potential.

Mentor Spotlight

From Vision to Design: Meet the Mentor Inspiring Our Butterflies This Spring

This Spring, Butterflies N Effect is proud to welcome Mr. Testimony Oluwafemi as one of our featured mentors, bringing creativity, innovation, and real-world experience into our virtual afterschool space.

Mr. Testimony is a talented fashion designer and digital creative with experience in streetwear design, digital illustration, album artwork, and game art. His work reflects not only artistic skill, but a deep understanding of how creativity can be used as a powerful form of self-expression and identity.

During the Spring Session, Mr. Testimony is guiding our students through the foundations of fashion design, introducing them to tools such as Krita, Canva, and Adobe Illustrator. Students will have the opportunity to move from idea to creation learning how to design their own pieces while building confidence in their creative voice.

More than just teaching design, Mr. Testimony is helping our Butterflies:

✨ Develop digital and technical skills

✨ See new possibilities for their future

At Butterflies N Effect, we believe exposure leads to opportunity and mentors like Mr. Testimony play a vital role in helping our students see what’s possible.

We are excited to have him as part of our Spring Session and look forward to the impact he will make in the lives of our Butterflies.
